Group Exercise

Group exercise classes are more than just a great way to stay in shape – they’re also a chance to try something different and exciting, and meet new people. You can now sign up for classes and see the most up-to-date schedule each week through the Spivi App.  Simply create a free account at www.spivi.com and then download the Spivi App through the App Store or Google Play Store.

Classes are open to all area residents, and are free for HealthWorks members.

Class Descriptions

Noon Yoga (Kim):

Noon Yoga class is a flow style class that fits in a lot in 30 minutes. Class is constantly moving in and out of poses designed to flow from one to the other. The class begins with small focused movements and builds into movements that require more strength, balance, and flexibility. Every move has many levels and positions for ALL skill levels. There will be moves class participants can do that I cannot and its ok, that’s the beauty of Yoga! Class ends with the slowing down of movement and ending with Shavasana, the practice of a still mind. This is, I believe, the most important part of class. We have taken the Lunch hour to rejuvenate our body and we now rest the mind so we can be ready to conquer the rest of the day!

Ashtanga Yoga (Gina):

This dynamic, physically demanding practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Prepare to sweat as you briskly move through a flow sequence.

TRX Yoga (Gina):

Scale, complement, and improve your yoga practice using the TRX Suspension Trainer.  (more information can be found here:https://www.trxtraining.com/yoga

Relax Yoga (Gina):

Moving flow that releases tension from your body and mind, while resting attention calmly on your breath.  You drop the stress and feel all-over revitalized. 

Yin Yoga (Gina):

In Yin yoga, all of the poses are performed either seated or laying down. Practice consists of 8-10 postures held for several minutes at a time with relaxed, cool, and limp muscles.  

Barbells and Kettlebells (Kelly):

The purpose of this class is to teach the basic barbell and kettlebell skills.  We will focus on building the participant’s exercise library by teaching the primary barbell and kettlebell movements in depth so participants can safely and effectively perform these movements in their own training.  Each class we will take 1 to 3 barbell and/or kettlebell skills and teach proper execution through various drills and complete a short, but intense workout centered around the skills we are focusing on that day.  Barbell skills will include the deadlift, squat, bench press, military press and more.  Kettlebell skills will include the swing, clean, snatch, squat, military press, get up and more.
  

Spin (Jen and Ken):

Ride your bike through a virtual world of hills, turns, and more.  Spin is 30-45 minutes of cardiovascular endurance in a fun, upbeat atmosphere.  The instructor will lead you through a series of hills, sprint intervals, and flat roads.  No two classes are the same and you control the intensity level by choosing a resistance and speed that is right for you.  Bikes can be reserved online before class and all workouts are automatically saved to your personal account.

Circuit Training (Kelly):

A short class over the noon hour designed to give you everything you need to stay in shape in a short amount of time.  Resistance training exercises using kettlebells, bands, barbells, and body weight are all performed in a series of intervals to help you improve both strength and muscular endurance.  And don’t worry, you’ll also get to use the Curves, sleds, and other “fun” tools to improve your cardiovascular endurance as well.

Body Sculpting (Jackie):

Body sculpting uses a variety of equipment including free weights, exercise bands, and medicine balls in addition to your own body weight to strengthen, tone, and tighten. This full body class focuses on basic moves to improve strength and define your muscles.

Insanity Live (Kim): 

An extreme cardio conditioning workout made for every fitness level.   Insanity Live uses MAX interval training that has you work as hard as you can for 3-minute intervals, with 30-second periods of rest in between.  Throughout the 4 Blocks you'll build strength, improve cardiovascular endurance, and develop precision and speed—without lifting a single weight.

Core De Force (Kim):

A mixed martial arts-inspired workout that in a high-energy, and total-body sculpting.  With no equipment needed, the workout combines movements from western Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and more to teach anyone how to move and train like a fighter— with agility, control, balance, and precision. Throughout the class, the focus is core-centric movement designed to develop a strong, powerful core as well as an overall shredded body.
